Everyone's a star!!!

Why haunt just a home or a building...when you can haunt a full island?

Let's take a trip to Star Island - resting between New Hampshire and Maine. Star Island is part of the Isles of Shoals and is the biggest of the four islands.

Captain John Smith mapped the Isles of Shoals in 1614 and named them "Smyth's Isles". There is a monument remaining today on Star Island, built in 1864 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of John Smith's trip. The islands were settled in the early 17th century by seasonal fishermen working the North Atlantic coast. Many were settlers from the colonies of the Virginia companies.

Star Island is now a summer resort and is home to a hotel and several residential houses.

Due to Star Island being inhabited by the 1600s for sure, why would the spirits that can't move on just haunt one building when they have a whole island to play around on?

Over the years, people have heard singing coming from inside the Chapel on Star Island. One person visiting the chapel said he saw ghostly forms moving around inside as he was looking through the windows. When the guy went into the chapel, the forms disappeared and it was a cold and empty space.

It is said that a man committed suicide in a house on Star Island years ago. People say that his ghost still wanders the house. Many people have experienced the sounds of footsteps, loud bangs, and feelings of being pushed when walking up the staircase.

An old man with white hair and a white beard has been spotted in the Oceanic Hotel floating down the stairs. Visitors have also reported seeing the ghost of a lady, dressed in white, hanging out at the top of the stairs near the attic. Doesn't every place have a lady in white?

People staying at the hotel have heard strange noises coming from the attic. They say it sounds like someone is moving furniture or scratching at the walls. Go ahead and redecorate all you want, but please don't scratch your nails down the wall. Ecccchhhhh!

There are claims that doors open and close on their own. Which, seriously, in or out people! We're not trying to cool off the outside!!! (said all dads everywhere)

There have also been reports of a black dog with bright red eyes roaming around the island at night. Why not bring on the hell hounds with everything else that's going on there??? Supposedly if you try to approach the dog or it walks towards you, it will simply vanish. Well...good. Who wants to take on a hell hound???

There is a story of a little boy who lived on that island who mysteriously disappeared. His family searched and searched for days and, unfortunately, his dead body was found lying on the jagged rocks at the base of a cliff. So, so sad. I really hope his spirit has been able to rest.

There is a Cottage E on the island that people claim has a force that pushes you down the stairs. The Doctor's Cottage is a location where a suicide happened and supposedly the doctor's spirit has been seen. Not sure if the doctor is the one who committed suicide or if it was someone else...doesn't really matter. Suicide is a sad story no matter who it was.

There is also a story of three young sisters who died a few days apart in 1863 that are still seen on the island.

I could not find factual details of who's who regarding the deaths on the island listed above. Obviously over hundreds of years, many people have died...and many are still reported to be seen roaming the whole village. So...if you're interested in an idea for your next vacation, might I suggest Star Island, New Hampshire. Even if you go by yourself...it doesn't sound like you will ever be alone.
